Tuesday 30 May, 2pm
Suitable for preschool children aged three to five.
Bring your children to this special StoryTime to mark National Reconciliation Week. Indigenous educator, Eva Jo Edwards, will share traditional and contemporary stories from Aboriginal nations across Australia. Eva Jo will bring the tales to life using spoken word, dance and face painting. The stories provide a wonderful opportunity to introduce young children to indigenous culture.
Every child will receive a boomerang to decorate at home with dreamtime images.
StoryTimes provide parents with a wonderful opportunity to introduce young children to the joys of reading and a range of magical stories. After the session children have time to select their own picture books to borrow and enjoy with the family at home. For those families that are short of time, book bags are available to borrow from the desk.
Eva-Jo Edwards is a Mutthi Mutthi / Yorta Yorta woman who, despite growing up as part of the stolen generation of Aboriginal children who were taken away from their parents, has made an immense contribution professionally and culturally to the Aboriginal community of Victoria and beyond.
