Library service changes

On 6 September 2020, the Premier announced Victoria’s COVID-19 roadmap to reopening. Many of the Stage 4 restrictions remain in place, and all Glen Eira Libraries are closed until health restrictions are lifted. Due to high demand, in the short term, we can deliver reserved items to library members who reside in the City of Glen Eira only. Library chutes are open 24 hours a day. No overdue fees will be charged. Find out more on our FAQs page.

A new Elsternwick Community Hub

As part of the long-term vision for Elsternwick, we are planning to transform the Elsternwick Library into a new Community Hub.

On This Page

Construction of the Hub is some years away, but the first stage of planning is underway.

The Hub will bring together library, kindergarten, maternal and child health services and provide new community open space.

Throughout October and November 2019, we invited you to tell us what kind of experiences you would like to have at the new Hub and the types of services you would like to see. This engagement is now closed.

Thank you to everyone who stopped and gave us their ideas at the three pop-up booths across Elsternwick, chatted with us at Elsternwick Library, completed online and print surveys, and came to our community forums. We really appreciate your contributions.
