Why is the facility temporarily closed?
The facility is temporarily closed so important maintenance works can be completed. These works are necessary to maintain the safety, reliability and long-term operation of the facility.

Yes. The temporary closure is a proactive measure that allows maintenance works to be completed safely and efficiently. There is no immediate risk to the community, however completing these works now is important to ensure the facility remains safe and operational.
Why can't the facility stay open while the works are completed?
The nature of the works means it is safer and more efficient to temporarily close the facility. This allows contractors to complete the work without disrupting visitors and helps ensure the works can be completed as quickly as possible.
Was the closure expected?
We have been monitoring the issue and the maintenance was identified as needing immediate attention.
How long will the facility be closed?
The facility will remain closed while the works are completed. We will continue to provide updates and will advise the community as soon as a reopening date is confirmed.
Are these works essential?
The works have been identified as requiring prompt attention to ensure the facility continues to operate safely, reliably and as intended.
What is Council/the organisation doing to minimise disruption?
We are working closely with contractors to complete the works as efficiently as possible. We will keep the community informed throughout the closure and provide updates on reopening arrangements. Our other Library facilities are operating as usual and youth activities are being organised from other locations
What do I do with my library books?
The return chute will also be closed at Bentleigh Library and Youth Hub. You can keep your books and return when the facility reopens, or you can return your books to one of our other library locations.
What about my library reservation?
