Reminiscence box: Dances and balls

From the 1930s through to the end of the 1950s many young people's social lives revolved around dancing and dance halls. Romances blossomed as many took the oppotunity to get physically close to the opposite sex without getting into trouble!. Knowing the latest steps was the key to courting success. Town halls and venues like the Maison de Luxe, Elwood were particularly popular venues for dances. Debutante balls were also an importanta rite of passage for a young lady.
