Important safety alert — Craft sand recall.

A national alert has been issued regarding certain coloured craft sand products that may contain asbestos. 

The sand used at the Glen Eira Libraries After Dark event on 7 July may be affected. The product used was Kadink – Coloured Decorative Sand (1.3kg). 

Health authorities advise the risk is low, but precautions should be taken.  

If you attended the event or have this sand, please do the following:  

• Stop using the sand immediately. 

• Place the sand vial in a heavy-duty plastic bag. Double seal it with tape and label it as “asbestos”. 

• Keep it out of reach of children. 

• Do not dispose of it in your household rubbish. 

• Follow the Australian Government’s Department of Health, Disability and Ageing guidance for safe disposal.
